About Epitalon
Epitalon in Canada is supplied by Horizon Peptides as a lyophilized powder in sealed research vials, stocked in 10 mg and 50 mg sizes with single-vial, 3-vial and 10-vial pack options. Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide studied in telomere and cellular-ageing research models.
Epitalon is four residues long, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, with a molecular weight of 390.35. That makes it one of the smallest sequences stocked and among the simplest peptides in common research use.
It was developed as a synthetic counterpart to epithalamin, a peptide preparation derived from the pineal gland. Where the natural preparation is a mixture, the synthetic tetrapeptide is a single defined compound, which is why it largely replaced the extract in controlled study.
Laboratory interest centres on telomerase-related activity and on cellular senescence models. Its brevity also makes it a useful reference point when asking how much signalling a very short sequence can account for.
